A possible issue with the startup.wav not playing at the correct speed. C:\OS9-Classic\CD-ROM drivers\cdenable.sys C:\Windows\system32\drivers. SheepShaver/BasilliskII for Windows (16-05-2021) iso images of your cd roms and add them to the volumes list in the BasiliskII GUI. Refresh rate setting now stays accessible and also doesn't save to settings as 60hz. Both the cdenable.sys driver and the basilisk ethernet driver will not work in 64-bit Windows versions.

SheepShaver will only boot from CD when no Mac OS system is found on any hard disk image attached, even when set to boot from CD. SheepShaver might crash when an audio CD is in the drive at start. If it freezes, just hard shut it and restart. SheepShaver might crash with low memory settings.

Mac OS 9 will install to the hard drive. Destination Disk: Mac OS 9 (as it was named above). Click Mac OS 9 Install (on the ISO image). Now you need to install the OS onto the hard drive. It says it will erase the disk, which is fine – click Continue. Give the disk a Name (Mac OS 9), leave the Format to Mac OS Standard 1,000 MB, and click Initialize. Maybe you have to reboot after putting it there.Ī popup asks “This disk is unreadable by this Computer…” If you copy the file to from the “\SheepSaver\CD-ROM drivers\cdenable.sys” and put it in “C:\Windows\SysWOW64\drivers\” the error goes away. SheepShaver throws a CD error: “The CD-ROM driver file ‘C:\WINDOWS\system32\drivers\cdenable.sys’ is missing”. You can name it whatever you want, such as “Mac OS 9.hfv”, and add the extension HFV. This creates a disk file of that size in the SheepShaver directory.

This allows you to access your Windows PC files from within the emulated OS. Once you set everything up, you can run SheepShaver.exe directly.
If you try to run SheepShaverGUI.exe without the GTK Runtime files, it will error with “The program can’t start because is missing…” So install these files by running gtk2-runtime-2.24.10-ash.exe. The Mac checks to see if the ISO is read only and errors if it is not. Make the Apple MacOS 9.0.4.ISO file read only: Right mouse click > Properties > Read Only. Copy the Apple MacOS 9.0.4.ISO file to the SheepShaver directory. It creates a Apple Mac OS 9.0.4.ISO file. Use 7zip to unzip the Apple Mac OS 9.0.4.7z file. Rename the newworld86.rom to “Mac OS ROM” with no extension.

SheepShaver comes with MAC OS 9 ROMs that don’t work. sys in the Windows/System32/drivers folder, and cdenable.vxd at the root. Download “ gtk2-runtime-2.24.10-ash.exe” – you will need these. In one case the cdenable files were not installed by the Basilisksetup.exe. Download “ Apple Mac OS 9.0.4 (ISO)” version 9.0 (and not 9.1 or 9.2). Download and unzip “ New World PPC ROM“. Some applications were installed or uninstalled improperly. cdenable.sys file is corrupted or damaged by virus infections. Symantec C++ should work, too, with some: modifications. To recompile Basilisk II, you need: MS Visual V++ 5.0 or later. To access CD-ROMs under Windows 9x, the driver 'cdenable.vxd' must be copied: to the 'WindowsSystem' directory. Download and install SheepShaver in a directory called “SheepShaver”. cdenable.sys file may be mistakenly deleted by someone, computer antivirus or system cleaning tools. 'cdenable.sys' must be copied to your 'WinNTSystem32drivers' directory.
